It is a true success story. They have been on the market for 20 years and thousands have already been sold; the small First 21.7 (formerly 211) and First 25.7 models. With their habitable and trailerable boat concept and variable draughts, the two Beneteau models are still regarded as trendsetters and role models for an entire category of sailing boats - small and micro cruisers and touring boats.
Market leader Beneteau has now given its smallest models another comprehensive overhaul in terms of rig and sails and is now launching the tried-and-tested Finot/Conq designs on the market under the names First Twenty and First 25S. Essentially, the hulls and decks remain unchanged. The rig, however, is completely different. The mast is now fitted with diamond shrouds, similar to those on catamarans. This means that the lower shrouds, which otherwise often obstruct the passage across the deck, can be dispensed with. The backstay has also been removed. This means that it is now possible to sail a powerful mainsail with a pronounced leech rounding and flared headboard (fat head).
In terms of prices, the rig and sgel updates will not result in any significant changes. Until recently, the previous models cost 22,730 euros (First 21.7) and 47,243 euros (First 25.7/with built-in engine).
